Dog and cat food prices, compared across Australian stores

Pet food prices move around more than most of us notice. The same bag of dry dog food can cost noticeably more at one store than another, and every retailer runs its own specials on its own timetable.

PetoWise will match each product across stores by brand, range, flavour and size, then line the prices up so you can see where it costs least. Different pack sizes will be compared per kilo, so you can tell whether the bigger bag is really the better buy.

We check prices at specialist pet stores, from Petbarn, Petstock and Pet Circle to smaller online shops like Budget Pet Products, VetSupply, Vet n Pet Direct, PeekAPaw, 77Paws and Woonona Petfoods.

We also cover the places most of us already shop. Pick up dog food at Woolworths, cat food at Coles, or Aldi's own dog food with the groceries, and we'll show you whether a pet store has it cheaper. Chemist Warehouse's pet range is in there too.

Most of us find a food our pet loves and stick with it, so PetoWise will be organised around the brands you already buy. You'll be able to look up Royal Canin, Black Hawk, Purina, Hill's Science Diet, Whiskas or Fancy Feast and see every store's price for that exact product.

Pet stores don't follow a weekly catalogue, so it's hard to know whether a sale price is actually a good one. Price history will show how each product's price has moved over time at every store.

Price-drop alerts will email you when the food your pet eats gets cheaper at any store we track, so you can stock up at the right moment instead of checking every site yourself.
